Great photographers have to have three things. They have to have heart if they’re going to photograph people. They have to have an eye, obviously, to be able to compose. And they have to have a brain to think about what they’re shooting. Too many photographers have two of the three attributes, but not the third.”

I took myself to the National Gallery of Victoria to see some work shown for the Festival of Photography  It showcased the diversity of approaches to this medium but apart from Bill Henson, nothing really made me feel anything, although there were some techniques I would like to explore.

Stoicism

Stoicism

“Does what’s happened keep you from acting with justice, generosity, self-control, sanity, prudence, honesty, humility, straightforwardness, and all other qualities that allow a person’s nature to fulfill itself? So remember this principle when something threatens to cause you pain: the thing itself was no misfortune at all; to endure it and prevail is great good fortune.” Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
