Photography has been in my life longer than almost anything else. Longer than my marriage, my home, a job or most of my friends.
Making images has allowed me to experience the world in a unique way, to find beauty in the plain and ordinary that I want to share with others. This is an old passion that I rediscovered, having thought it was lost. This project is about a return to making images for my sake.
To be clear, this is not a photography site about technique although I hope the images you see demonstrate I already have some. This is project about doing; it stresses that what you have in you camera bag right now is enough and no amount of reading can replace the need to go out and make images. It emphasises that technology assists, not drives creativity. I also want to share the work of others that have inspired and amazed me.
For me there is a clear link between photography and randomness. The images we make are often the combination of multiple random factors; the right light, composition choices, camera settings and timing. This project has a very strong random element that is discussed in my first post.
One final thing. The photographs used on this site are my own unless otherwise credited. Please let me know if you would like to use them as all I would want in return is attribution.
