Looking underneath…

Looking underneath…

This month I rolled a beetle on one of the dice and since the light was ordinary today, I thought I would do some macro images.

I went looking through the garden and came across what I think is a variety of jumping spider on one of flowers I had photographed last week.

The spider retreated under the flower giving me the image above. It’s a mix of available light and off camera fill flash positioned beneath to remove shadow. I could have used a small reflector and available light but then the spider would have reacted to something so close by moving again. The flash also dealt with a very busy background, perhaps a little too well. I would have liked to get even closer but I was at the limit of what my gear can do.
