Burnt wood study in HDR

It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.

Henry David Thoreau

I took that quote to heart when I finished working on this HDR image.

Burnt wood study

Since getting sick, I couldn’t go out so I focused on working with what I already had for this month. One of the challenges with this image was the tonal range and in particular the shadows and blacks in the charred wood. I had diffuse light to work with and so fortunately I avoided having hard shadows and even higher contrast. This image is a composite of three exposures combined in Photomatix and worked on further in Lightroom.
